Moose Mounts And Where To Put Them

By Odessa Edwards

When hunters come home with their kill they have a couple options. Of course the options depend on what game they are hunting. But food is one option. It takes a skilled butcher to strip a deer of all its meat for instance. But the yield is huge. If hunting moose then often times a display of some sort is the motive and moose mounts are a very prideful display.

Mounting that animal above your fireplace or somewhere else in your cabin home is a priceless moment. Anybody can go out and purchase a prized moose head and stick it on their wall. But having the one that you put down and the story that goes along with it is something they will never have and something you will cherish forever.

This is a memory that you want to put out there for everyone else to see. There are many more reasons as to why someone would want to mount such an animal to their wall, but your reason is your pride. Hanging such a wild beast above the fireplace in your home is symbolic and something that people have done for generations.

Of course the modern taxidermy industry is actually doing quite well. They have been selling much of what they work on to a variety of people. This is because there are a great number of people out there who either want to display an animal in their home, or they want to appear as if they were the one who hunted the animal down.

While tradition might be important it is also something that can be bent a little, much like certain rules. If tradition says you mount your buck or your moose above the fireplace than that is something that people will often times change. When they do, they will be looking for various ways to display a prized kill and one of the more common ways is whole.

There are always more people who want the chance to go after an animal this large or get one for their mount. Many of the people who have some money are also looking for various new ways to display the animals as well. Instead of placing the head above the fireplace, some of them are attempting to display them whole.

IT might give it a bit of a museum feel but for the people who display them like this in their homes it is a entirely new dimension in trophy hunting. That is after all what the hunt is about once completed. They are going after a trophy they can display to their friends and peers. Something they can boast about to everyone.

People need to consider the size of an animal of that magnitude when deciding to either hunt one or mount one. No matter the choice made you will always want a professional by your side. Either for the preparation of the moose mounts or the preparation of the hunt. It will take time to convert a full animal into only a mountable head, unless of course you just want to buy one instead of getting your own.
