Easy To Follow Procedures For Pool Table Movers

By Heidi Carver

Pool is a very popular game that mostly everyone can play. More commonly known as pocket billiards, this game requires a special table that has six receptacles or pockets wherein you shoot balls using a cue. There are hundreds of variations of games. More popular ones are the eight ball, the nine ball, three ball, straight pool and one pocket.

There are standard equipment for anyone who wants to play this game. The most important is the pool table. It covered in green felt and has six pockets on every corner plus two more between the long sides where you will shoot or pocket the balls using a cue stick. It can weigh over a thousand pounds, so moving them requires pool table movers. Standard balls are colorful and measures 2.25 inches in diameter. They are pushed into the pockets by cue sticks that are usually 58.5 inches long.

A standard furniture has dimensions of 3.5 by 7 feet. It can weigh to as much as a thousand pounds. You will not be bale to budge it out of position by yourself, so if you want a new location for your furniture, call on as many people as you can who will be able to help you as you carry out these quick procedures in moving it.

Before anything else, have a staple puller and some safety goggles at hand. You will be using both of these when you remove the pockets. Use the puller to pull out the wires that hold the pockets in place. Since these wires can go in all directions when pulled, protect you eyes from getting hit by wearing an eye protector.

After removing all the pockets, the next part you would have to remove is the rails. These are long pieces of wood that prevent the ball from falling out when you are tying to shoot it inside a pocket. Now, with the aid of a peer, unscrew the rails and slide them out. Flip them over and unscrew the underside to separate the sections.

Now that the rails are out, it is easy to see where the felt covering begins. Use again a staple puller or a flat head driver to loosen the cloth. Not all felt covers are fastened, though. Some of them are just kept in place by some glue. If only the glue is used, then all you have to do is to pull all side out gently.

Use power drill to unscrew the screws holding the slate. Some screws are covered with beeswax, so you would have to scrape each with a flat head screwdriver for it to be removed. Stack the slates on top of one another.

Now all that is left is the table itself. To move it, prepare four wooden dollies, one for each leg. It is best to cover it with fabric to avoid inflicting scratches. Lift one side and roll two dollies under each leg. Repeat the process for the other side so that each leg is mounted on a wooden dolly.

Though everything seems overly simple, the reality remains to be that moving this is very hard work. This is best left for the pros to handle, because they have already mastered a system to get about the task with efficiency and without inflicting damage to your table. If you are worried about the service fees associated with professional table movers, then you do not have to worry because movers even in fairly big cities like Denver, Colorado offer competitive rates to clients.
