It Has Really Deep And Strong Bass - B Headphones Review

By Landon Jones

There's no hiss or background noise thanks to the KLEER technology. And the sound is as good as the Sennheiser HD595 they replaced. I am impressed I can hear things on my games I never knew existed and the music and television is awesome. Plus these are much more comfortable than the older set that I had.

The evaluation system consisted of the following: Sony STR-DA5200ES, Sony (Costco) BDP-BX57, and Sony CDP-CX335. The Blu-ray player was connected via HDMI & the 400 Cd Mega-changer was hooked up via analog connects. I am very pleased in all respects. The sound quality is excellent -- on par with expensive, cable-connected phones. If your source is turned up enough, you can fine-tune the volume on the back of the headphones with your right hand. Navigate around it with your right thumb as soon as you begin to use them and you'll be quickly acquainted. Now for the big complaint I have, and a reason why I will probably return the 180's in spite of all its good points. There is a slight out-of-phase problem with the source sound. They look great. They are a sleek charcoal/black and the charging cradle looks very cool and saves a little bit of desk space instead of having to lay down a giant pair of headphones like I used to. Now this takes all of 2 seconds to do but it is an extra step I find just a tad annoying. But again, this is a tiny thing and in no way is a criticism of the actual performance of these great phones.

For those listening to passive sound sources (stereo, iPod) you can't go wrong. For those watching TV, as long as your TV or other equipment has delay compensation, you'll be fine, too. My mailbox is about 60 feet away and the headphones start cutting out- though the signal IS going through a layer of brick. Also it cuts out inside my house, at only 30 feet or so, if I am in the kitchen.

The range on these is about twice what I got with the 140s (around 40 feet). These are RF, so walls and enclosed cabinets pose no problem.

I have adjusted to this by switching the headphones around so the volume control is on the side away from where I typically lie down. Second, I thought how nice it would be if the headset had a line out so I could choose to connect a speaker at a remote location if I wanted not to be wearing the headset.

All three buttons are in a 1 1/2 by 3/8 inch space with almost no way to feel which button you want. Not an easy task for any fingers, much less older fingers. They are however vented so you can still hear load external noises like your wife yelling at you to turn the TV off. I've had these for a month or so now. Unfortunately, none of the digital headphone systems will allow you to watch TV with your loved ones. I am using a Sennheiser analog headphone system Sennheiser RS 130 Wireless Surround Sound Headphones and it works perfectly, no delay so I can enjoy my evening TV with my wife.
