All People Love Dancing And That Is Why Plus Size Dance Tights Exist

By Marissa Velazquez

The common misconception about dancers is that they are all women and that they are all tiny, little, frail body types. The fact that plus size dance tights exist runs counter to this fallacy. There are dancers of many types. Dancing crosses all gender lines, lifestyles, sizes, personality types, races, creeds and belief systems. It truly can be a unifying factor between people who have worlds of differences between them.

Lots of times, large women are involved in active lifestyles to try to change their appearance. It isn't often a purely health conscious decision. Society puts pressures on women that they don't put on men. Given the proclivity of many women to try to conform to the societal pressures, it's no surprise that there is a market for crazy products.

The larger man or woman has a much more difficult time shopping. Their sizes are more difficult to find. All of the racks must be poured through in a desperate search not for what they want but rather for whatever will cover their entire body. If you are a man with a waist size higher than 38 or an inseam longer than 36, it is next to impossible to find pants.

The expression that is apparent in interpretive movoments is counterbalanced by the rules of other types of dancing. All sorts of music has all types of moves. From hip-hop to jazz there are very distinct styles that reflect their own genre very accurately. Some types are easy and require only a small bit of tutelage, like line dancing while others require years of dedicated learning and a lot of hard work and patience, for example ballet.

Shoes can be a huge problem as well. If you are a man with a foot size larger than 12, it is pretty rare to find the style of shoe that you want when you are looking for it unless you are online and ordering directly from the manufacturer. Size 20 shoes are almost never found in stores.

The commodification of appearance was a slick marketing move by many companies. Many items of clothing have been designed with the sole purpose of giving a slimmer appearance. There are girdles, tights, shirts and pants that promise to give the appearance of a tighter body. The surprising thing is that they sell these products by the container load. Given half a chance, most of these products fail to meet expectations and even if they did, wouldn't it be slightly dishonest to wear them?

It's hard to believe that if someone was superficial enough to want someone simply based on their trim appearance that they would stick around after the specialty clothing was removed. The truth would come bubbling out in soft rolls of flesh that would scream out the truth of the matter without using words. The disappointment that would come after that seems to be the opposite of the acceptance that people who use them are looking for.

Shopping for humongous shoes or plus size dance tights can be difficult. Understanding the ways around the difficulty is the key to making it enjoyable though. Giving yourself the right opportunities can mean that you get a wardrobe that suits your style, fashion sense and comfort.
