Awesome Philadelphia Arts Destinations

The city of Philadelphia is often known as the City of Brotherly Love. It is the birthplace of American democracy, the home of the cheesesteak and some great sports groups like the Flyers, the Phillies and Eagles. Home of historic items like the Liberty Bell and places like Independence Hall, Philadelphia is rich with early American history. The Philadelphia arts scene is comprised of historical museums, fine arts destinations and modern arts museums and musical establishments, galleries, intellectual destinations and live performance venues. The center of the fine arts in Philadelphia is known better as the Parkway Museum District, a two mile stretch that runs from LOVE Park through Logan Square to the entrance to Fairmont Park. A ramble along this grand boulevard takes one past the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Franklin Institute, Moore College of Art & Design, the Acadamy of Natural Sciences Center and the acclaimed Rodin Museum, ending at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Natural history and the sciences, classical art and sculpture and contemporary art are all represented in the collection of prominent cultural establishments located in Philadelphia's Parkways Museum District.Modern Art in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia arts scene is not restricted to the Parkways District. The Arthur Ross Gallery and The Institute of Contemporary Art are both outstanding examples of arts in Philadelphia. Other important museums include the Penn Museum, the Philadelphia History Museum and the Wells Fargo Science Park. The city of Philly boasts several other opera companies and venues as well , including City Center Opera, ConcertOPERA Philadelphia, the Curtis Opera Theater and Temple University Opera Theater. Numerous colleges call Philadelphia home including LaSalle University, St. Joseph's University, Temple University and Drexel University, among many others. The presence of so many instructional places contributes mightily to the excitement, the "buzz" one feels all over Philadelphia. Fine arts in Philadelphia, as well as all the above, include a colourful onstage music and coffeehouse scene, photography and art galleries, performing arts faculties and venues. Philly is also a regular stop on the lecture tour of important speakers and performance artists.
