New Orleans is an exciting and varied city that has lots to offer travelers. Some of the highlights include the historic French Quarter, bustling Scotch Street and of course the delicious normal cuisine. Due to a mixing pot of cultures the town boasts one or two fascinating museums to help visitors better understand the local history, art and heritage. Here are just a few of the top museums in New Orleans

Louisiana Children's Museum

While much of New Orleans appeals basically to adults there is still plenty to enlighten and entertain younger children too. The Louisiana Children's Museum is one of the best New Orleans museums for families and it conveniently located in the Central Business District merely a quick walk from the French Quarter. Exhibits go from topics like the human body and basic machinery to local subjects like the history of New Orleans or knowing how a port operates in coastal towns. Trip to familiarize youngsters with the excitement of New Orleans and to learn a few things at the very same time.

Historic New Orleans Collection

Those having an interest in the history of New Orleans should look no farther than the Historic New Orleans Collection. This is an entrancing way to better understand the way the town was formed into what it is today. Exhibits cover the history of New Orleans, standard furniture, clothing and even foods that were eaten centuries gone in the town. Mardi Gras World

There can be no argument that Mardi Gras is the hottest and widely recognized event in New Orleans. To get a better notion of what these celebrations entail and how they came about consider a visit to Mardi Gras World, one of the top New Orleans museums. Take an in-depth look at the hundreds of parade floats utilized in the many Mardi Gras parades annually and even take a tour of how they're created. Contemporary Arts Center

In the guts of the Central Business District is amongst the top museums in New Orleans for art. The Contemporary Arts Center boasts various exhibits from local artists as well as artists from around the world who've captured piquant scenes on the streets of New Orleans.
