What Makes Top Class Creative Corporate Headshots

By Shirley Murray

Success in business depends on the image you portray outwards. The image in question here is that of executives behind your business. There are instances where creative corporate headshots are required for media appearance, production of brochures and use on websites, among other uses. Developing these shots and giving them a professional look requires consideration of several factors.

Let it match your brand. The main aim of using the images is to promote your business. There are colors and graphics that are associated with both your business and industry. Ensure that these colors are creatively mixed into the shot. Though you need an official look, it must be appealing and send a message that you want to engage.

Lighting delivers magic on photos. As much as possible, use natural lighting because it cannot be matched by any other form of light. However, professional lighting is still available to give you a similar effect as you would expect from natural lighting. Light has a way of rubbing quality on images. Use a studio or photographer who will effectively manage lighting to give you the best shots.

Work on the background to make it simple and functional. The background may capture the attention of readers and deny them a chance to take in the message you are trying to communicate. Choose images, colors and graphics that are relevant to both the industry and your business. It must blend well with your dressing, corporate color and industry themes.

Dressing should match an occasion where you are meeting a new client. You have no idea where the images will go. There are clients who will be clicking on your website for the first time ever. They need to see a person who is ready for that impressive first appearance. This means having basic hair and makeup that match the expectations of the industry.

Trends will mess up your image. This translates into taking a conservative tone of avoiding the flashy dressing. Trends are easily swept out of the market. They also have a date on them such that you might have to change your image every several months. This denies your clients the opportunity to enjoy consistency. Because the trend has been overtaken by time, you are likely to feel that you are old school and therefore fail to give you business.

Take a posture that is inviting yet official. Be relaxed in an environment that resonates with the industry where you work. The posture should inspire confidence in anyone who encounters it. Keep your back straight and pull the shoulders slightly backwards. Do not send an image of a stiff person because it will turn away potential clients. The smile should be natural and a personality that is authentic.

Take care of your body and mind to produce the best shots. A dehydrated person will never produce a good shot. Brightness will also be lost if you have unresolved social or emotional issues bothering you. Have a look at several brands and the shots they have used on their website. Compare what you see and try to improve on your idea. Above all, give it a unique yet professional feel.
