What To Know About Solid Color Ties

By Krystal Branch

Ties, which may also be known as neckties, are pieces of cloth worn around the neck. These long pieces of cloth are often worn for decorative purposes and may be worn around the shoulders. Usually they rest under the collar of a shirt and are knotted up by the neck. Bolo, zipper, bow, ascot or clip-on ties, and cravats are other variations. Solid color ties are one of many kinds available.

Typically these are pieces worn by males. Still, nowadays it is common to see females sport ties as well. The pieces are often sold at retail stores, particularly those that carry clothing, shoes and other such accessories. They will vary in price, depending on factors such as brand, style, material and seller.

As is true of most fashion pieces, these are available in many styles. Some may feature a pattern or design, others may only consist of one color and no pattern. Some people might prefer the solid types as they are easier to pair with shirts and incorporate into many different outfits. Still, the choice of which tie to wear is often based on personal style and preference of the wearer. There is usually no right or wrong, however there may be some rules when these are worn as part of a uniform.

This accessory might be worn with formal or casual outfits. The style or material of a piece may help a person decide what event or occasion it works best for. Certain jobs or job positions might require these be worn as part of the uniform. In these instances, solid styles are often the standard.

This neckwear has a long history. Some version of these pieces has been around since the 1600s. The style, material and use of this neckwear has changed in a lot of ways since that period of time. Still, it is largely still used as a fashion statement.

They might also be used as a visual symbol. Many associate people who wear ties with those who are important or hold a higher status. This is why it is common for men and women to wear these as part of formal wear. However, these have become a more casual choice for some as well, especially because there are so many different types that can be worn.

Different fabrics are employed in the manufacturing process. Some of the most common materials employed: cashmere, satin, silk, wool and polyester. The various kinds may provide their own look, even if they are in one color. For example, a wool tie that is in a solid color may have more texture and dimension than a solid-color tie made of another fabric. Synthetic fabrics might snag, making them look cheap after little wear. Always keep in mind your budget and the occasion as well.

Many are willing to make the investment on these pieces because they can be used for several years, especially those that are of a solid color and do not cater to specific trends in fashion. Solid color ties, along with all the other styles, are largely considered a timeless piece when it comes to menswear.
