Women Clergy Robes For Neo Pagan And Wiccans

By Christi Larsen

Even modern Christians have an attitude that females should not lead a congregation of believers. Fortunately, women clergy robes can be found in the Pagan and Wiccan community. Both male and female adherents to this path will start out sewing their own robe, but there are also seamstresses which are often found at large gatherings who create beautiful and ornate garments for the purpose of spiritual observance.

A basic religious robe starts out in a t-shaped pattern which is very easy for someone who has no experience to sew. This makes it easy for those newly involved with a Pagan or Wiccan group to create their first robe. In this religion, artistry is encouraged, so often these individuals will add new details as time passes.

Both men and their female counterparts wear similar garments during ritual observance, known as moons or Sabbats. While there is nearly always a Priestess who presides over ritual, many groups have a Priest with her as well. Balance of masculine and feminine energies is very important to followers of the Pagan ways.

It is the belief of many Wiccans that the entirely patriarchal religions which have been a dominating force are unbalanced at their core. The notion that women are inferior to men is abhorrent to these people, who have a deep understanding that males and females truly need each other. These patriarchies have actually created the war between the sexes.

This does not mean that Pagans traditionally judge or discriminate against those who embrace alternative lifestyles. Quite the opposite is true, in fact, as Pagan Priests and Priestesses will often preside over commitment ceremonies for same-sex couples. Balance simply means recognizing that some energies are inherently male or inherently female.

Much like the yin-hang symbol, Wiccans believe that males have an active creative energy while females have a receptive nurturing energy, but each gender has a seed of the other within. Women have a powerful, active, creative side just as men have a nurturing, feminine side. The idea is to recognize, accept, and balance these energies within the individual.

As with Christians, there are variations of philosophies in Wicca. There are even female-only groups who are referred to largely as Dianic groups. Unlike Christianity, however, the different denominations of Wicca have never engaged in armed combat with one another due to their different philosophies.

The peace between various Pagan groups comes from the fact that Pagans and Wiccans do not believe in proselytizing. While spreading the belief system is such a part of Christianity, Pagans and Wiccans are offended by this practice. They believe that everyone has their own path, and to pressure someone into changing their path is simply wrong.

Self empowerment is necessary to wear women clergy robes. Females who embrace their own personal divinity are able to lead their congregations to a level of wisdom and enlightenment that regards love as the greatest power. The fact of the matter is, no matter what religion one follows, at the core of the philosophy love is always the law.
