Where To Find Cheap Bohemian Style Clothing

By Karina Frost

Not everyone is cut out to wear business apparel on a daily basis. Some people feel far more comfortable wearing stylish casual clothes that they have added their own personal touch to. Most of these outfits fit loosely on the body and through color and design enhance and highlight the features of the person wearing them. Recognizing the basic pieces of cheap Bohemian style clothing is part of having the ability to do this successfully.

The look is called Boho chic and uses the hippie look of the sixties along with the starving artist mind set. This look can be dressed up or down according to need or event. One of the basic rules is to not overdo your design when getting dressed. Using modern wardrobe basics along with a few distinctive pieces that have unique features helps to achieve balance in your outfit. Overdoing can detract from your image and sometimes make you look like a beggar on the street.

A large part of this fashion statement involves layering of pieces that might include a skirt and blouse with a jacket or shawl over it. Using accessories such as belts or scarves as belts can add color and tie the outfit together. Many times one item, such as a scarf can be used in several ways to change the attitude of an outfit. Re-purposing items is a very common practice.

Finding the best look for yourself may involve experimenting with several different looks but there is a wide assortment of websites online that can supply whatever garment you are looking for. Virtually every site has pictures of items that fit into this fashion mode. Many will supply catalogues if you request one. There are also sites that offer tie dyed clothes as well as jewelry and other necessities.

The neighborhood thrift store is another rich resource for finding garments and accessories to create your look. These stores specialize in items that have been gently worn and have character. Much of their stock comes from estate sales that contain garments and jewelry from the flower child era.

There are huge numbers of specialty shops that carry the Boho look on their racks. You may find unique pieces of jewelry such as wooden hoop earrings or re-purposed gems made into pendants. Many of the shop owners create their own stock or commission artists to do it for them. Some purchase in bulk from companies located outside the country.

Many state and local fairs provide booths for retailers who handle clothing with a Bohemian flair. The sellers have dresses in full length designs as well as skirts and blouses that can be coordinated along with accessories such as purses and jewelry. Some specialty items may have been created from other garments such as turning old tattered jeans into purses or halter tops. Many vendors also create jewelry from items they have selected and re-purposed.

Creating your own style from items that are not only attractive but also comfortable can be an exciting venture. Paying attention to your face and body styles while selecting the perfect look can take your wardrobe from special to spectacular with a little research and effort.
