A Black Heritage Bible Provides Necessary Information

By Shanna McNeil

There have been millions of works written. The first types were found on the walls of prehistoric caves. Centuries later the written works were placed on scrolls. This was either sheep skin or papyrus. Eventually the printing press was made and writings gravitated to book form. This continued to be the standard for hundreds of years. Now the shift to electronic forms is quickly gaining momentum. But there will always be works that will stand the test of time printed on paper. The value will always be best in this form. The Black Heritage Bible fits into this category.

Writing is a means of communicating stories and events in ways that last longer than verbally spoken words. The information can last as long as the writings can. It is true that writings in caves have been preserves for long times, but they are not user friendly. To get the original message one has to go visit the cave.

Writing on sheepskin or papyrus created a means of moving communications in a portable way. But they are not user friendly. Even with the loose writing paper of today it would be difficult to maintain many thousands of individual pages.

Bound books are portable and are good ways to maintain information. Books in electronic forms have clear benefits. Books can be utilized when the batteries are gone and other energy sources can not be found. If they get soaked by most liquids they can still be used. The same could not be said for the electronic types.

The Black Heritage version is Gods written word. It does not gravitate away from the divinely inspired words which had been transcribed so many years earlier. It seeks to provide harmony with the many translations that exist. Perceptions and interpretations seem to lean towards white skinned Europeans.

There have been many to use the bible as the authority and proof that Africans were inferior to those of fairer skin. The quote, slaves obey your masters, was another sign from heaven that enslaving blacks was acceptable. Many generations and billions of African descent have in one way or another suffered because of this.

False biblical perceptions swayed many to think of blacks as evil and weak. In fact, it mentions many accounts that describe otherwise. It will take great steps to correct the years of biased thinking. This bible is a sure step in helping in this cause of good. In the end it accepts that it is never skin color but the content of character or spirit that really matters.

The Black Heritage Bible is a resource. It is a history tool. It is a gift of love that can be passed down from generation to generation. This resource is not about militancy or reverse discrimination. In order for the world to steadily move towards a more diverse and perfect world, it will be very important that truthful literature of this kind is available for everyone. It is important that it is accepted by everyone as well, regardless of race.
