Back when I was a child, I remember how I used to eat lots of different types of Candy. I suppose we all did then, I do not eat that much now, but the craving remains the same. I can't help but notice that a lot of the Candy that we ate back then seems to have long gone off our shelves.
You would have thought that with all the media coverage of the day that was afforded to the Candy Industry, that these types of candy would in fact out live us all. This has proved not to be the case sadly, and many of our favorites are no longer to be found on the shop shelves, below are a few examples.
Do you remember back in the Eighties, a certain type of Chewy, fruity, yet creamy candy known as Bonkers? These were advertised all over the place, and of course kids loved them, but you cannot find these anywhere now!
Ah Bonkers with their great Strawberry flavor, as well as juicy Watermelon flavor, and who can forget the Chocolate flavor. But strangely not long after the chocolate flavor Bonkers seemed to vanish from our shelves, never to be seen again.
One candy that was a lot more popular back in the day was Bubble Gum, there were lots of different types of Bubble Gum around, such as the ones that came in a mini juice box; but you rarely see any now.
Bubble gum in the Juice box used to come in hundreds of tiny pieces, where you had to put lots in your mouth just to taste them; not like today's Gum that has so many sticks per pack.
Does anybody remember the Mars bar? Another of my favorites way back then, with its Almond and caramel taste, lovely chocolate bar!
Well actually there is now something that is called Snickers Almond on the shelves and the funny thing is that it looks and tastes just like the old Mars bar, should you ever try one, although there was not a big public announcement to tell people of this happening.
Yes I remember the good old days of candy, what sweet memories.
