How To Get The Ultimate DVD Home Theater

By Glenn Matthews

It doesn't take a million bucks of expensive equipment to turn one room in your home into a theater room. If you have the funds, then go nuts if you wish - you can even install theater-style seats to make guests feel like they're in a movie house. You can even have curtains that'll open on command with the push of a button, but you don't have to hire a professional to build a home theater for your house.

When it comes to setting up a DVD home theater, you don't need an electronics engineering degree or expert on high-tech gadgets. The only expertise you need is the most basic - you just need to be familiar with how home theater systems operate so you don't run into any bad deals and can buy the right equipment or upgrade successfully.

What to you get with a home theater? It's simple - you can make your old TV and DVD player look like they came from Jurassic Park with the high-quality viewing you could get otherwise. It's been said that having a DVD home theater gives the theater experience. That's not all you can get out of it. You can get those quality pictures and surround sound any time you wish. When most theaters are closed, you can pop in a DVD in your player and watch a movie at three in the morning while getting the full theater experience.

If you have been observant the last time you were at a theater, you would see more than one amplifier next to the screen. If you haven't, they're conveniently located at the left, right and middle of the screen.

Then you have satellite speakers in place to make the sound cover the entire theater room where the movie is being viewed. But that's after the sound is split into different channels.

Unlike your conventional TV set, theater screens are longer horizontally than they are vertically. When shopping for the components of your home DVD system, take note of the look of the TV screen, the sound coming from the speakers and the quality of the picture.

The DVD player in the system you buy (depending on which one you get) can have the capabilities to broadcast from five channels. You can even improve on the sound that comes out by getting a sub woofer. It goes without saying that you need a bigger TV for the best possible experience, because an average sized television set is just not going to cut it if you want an authentic theater feel.

Remember what you put into creating your home theater system is what you'll get out of it. If you scrimp in any area, you might save a few bucks but in the end, you'll be the one short changed. And you wouldn't want to scrimp if you are to buy a theater system that could last you and your family a lifetime.
